Q:  Can you introduce yourself and provide some background on your role within SAM? What are your primary responsibilities and areas of expertise?

A:  I’m Emem Adagbon, a data engineer. In my role, I specialize in designing, developing, and maintaining the infrastructure that enables efficient data collection, storage, and processing. My primary responsibilities include:

  1. Data Pipeline Development: Creating and managing ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is accurately and efficiently moved from source systems to data warehouses.
  2. Database Management: Overseeing the performance, integrity, and security of databases. This includes tasks such as optimizing queries and ensuring data quality.
  3. Data Integration: Integrating various data sources and ensuring that the data is accessible and usable for analytics and business intelligence purposes.
  4. Collaboration: Working closely with data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that meet those requirements.

Q:  What attracted you to this role and our company?

A:  I heard about the role through a recruitment company. The projects and services SAM undertakes have a significant impact on the industry and the broader community. I was motivated by the chance to contribute to meaningful initiatives that drive real-world change and deliver tangible value. Overall, the alignment of my technical skills and career aspirations with SAM’s mission and values made this role a perfect fit for me.

Q:  What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?

A:  From what I’ve learned, SAM fosters a collaborative and inclusive culture. Working in an environment where teamwork and knowledge-sharing are encouraged is important to me, as I believe it leads to more creative solutions and personal growth.

Q:  Has a memorable life lesson or advice shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?

A:  Having a Growth Mindset: Embracing continuous learning has instilled a growth mindset in me. I see every challenge as an opportunity to learn something new and improve. This has not only enhanced my technical skills but also helped me develop resilience and problem-solving abilities.

Q:  Outside of work, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy pursuing in your free time?

A:  Most of free time is built around my kid’s activities, aside from the kid’s activities I enjoy singing, sports and creating motivational contents or speaking in events occasionally about self-development.

Q:  Can you share a fun fact about yourself?

A:  One of my most memorable adventures was climbing the mountains in Utah and riding the razor.

Q:  Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?

A:   I have a passion for charity work, music, and writing.

Q:  What is your go-to Sunday cleaning/organizing song? 

A:   My go-to Sunday cleaningorganizing song is “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars. Its upbeat tempo and energetic vibe always get me in the mood to tackle any cleaning or organizing tasks with a positive attitude and lots of energy.
