Q: Can you introduce yourself and provide some background on your role within SAM? What are your primary responsibilities and areas of expertise?
A: I am a seasoned operational leader with over 20 years of experience across the public and private sectors, including retail, multi-state property management, self storage, commercial property management, manufacturing, and technology. Recognized for my natural aptitude in strategic planning and process improvement, I have a verifiable history of achieving maximum operational output with minimal resource expenditures. My professional focal points include budgeting, resource management, payroll, branding, promotional campaigns, risk assessment, team leadership, training, and performance management. Delivering superior administration in these areas requires effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Currently, I serve as the Virtual Operations Manager for Storage Asset Management, where I oversee 19 properties managed on a remote basis for our new department.
Q: What attracted you to this role and our company?
A: I originally interviewed with Storage Asset Management back in 2019 for a director position and had the opportunity to meet with the senior leadership team at the home office. I was so impressed by their answers regarding the company culture that, even though I was not selected for the position, I kept the company on my radar for any other openings. Fortunately, I was later hired as a District Manager, and the rest is history.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?
A: I am thrilled to be a part of our dynamic team at Storage Asset Management. One of the aspects I value most about working here is the incredible group of people I get to collaborate with every day. Their dedication, creativity, and camaraderie make it a pleasure to come to work. Currently, I am excited to be involved in our new department, where we are focused on driving innovative projects that will propel the company forward. Our team is passionate about making a meaningful impact, and I am eager to contribute to our collective success.
Q: Has a memorable life lesson or advice shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?
A: A valuable lesson my father taught me when I was younger has guided me to this day: “Measure twice, cut once.” This simple lesson emphasizes the importance of doing things right the first time to avoid unnecessary rework. I apply this philosophy throughout my entire life, from business decisions to cutting a board.
Q: Outside of work, what hobbies or interests do you enjoy pursuing in your free time?
A: In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my children and being a proud dad at their sporting events. We also do a lot of camping during the summer and enjoy being in nature. Additionally, I dabble with the guitar, which adds a creative outlet to my routine.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
A: I have lived in five different states throughout my life.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
A: I am surrounded by my lovely wife, three children (15 years old and twins that are 10 years old), and two cats.
Q: What is your go-to Sunday cleaning/organizing song?
A: Mr. Brightside by The Killers.
