Q: How long have you been working for SAM?
A: I have been working for SAM for five years and four months.
Q: How did you come to be part of the team at SAM? What attracted you to this role and our company?
A: SAM took over the Tampa property in March 2018, but because my mother was working that store, I did not join the team until July 2018 at our then Riverview location. I grew up in this business – my mother has been doing this for about 30 years.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working at SAM? Is there a specific aspect of your job or the company culture that you find particularly rewarding?
A: I truly do love working with my coworkers – my Assistant Store Managers, Joe and Heath are amazing along with my District Manager, Kathy and District Manager in Training, Norm. Interacting with my tenants I find the most rewarding, to be able to help them in any way I can is truly great, even if it is just me listening to what is going on in their lives.
Q: Is there a memorable life lesson or piece of advice that has shaped your outlook or approach to life and work?
A: Never let your work life effect your home life and vice versa.
Q: Outside of work, what are some of your hobbies or interests that you enjoy pursuing in your free time?
A: I love music. I listen to every genre from extreme metal to opera to rap to country to blues/jazz and so on (though I do listen to the many metal subgenres more). I own over 800 vinyl records (yes, I said vinyl), a couple hundred cassette tapes and CDs, and I cannot tell you how much digital music I have. I am always looking for new music in any genre. I also love playing board/card games with my friends and family. I have over a hundred different games ranging from classics like Clue to new games like Unstable Unicorn.
Q: Can you share a fun fact about yourself?
A: Though I have added new ones over the years, I still have the same core friend group since elementary school and still hang out with them on a weekly/monthly basis.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
A: I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 15 years and we have been together for 21 years. We have three kids – two boys and one girl ages 13, nine, and eight years old.
Q: What is your go to Sunday cleaning/organizing song?
A: “That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra
